Karl Burns, Counsellor & Social Worker
Karl is passionate about his professional counselling service and is an experienced registered counsellor who has worked both in the public and private sector since 2011. He is also an ACC registered counsellor. His client age range is from 18-70+ years old. Karl is experienced working with youth and adults from diverse socio economic backgrounds.
Karl is collaborative and favours using modalities such as; Narrative Therapy, CBT, Strengths based and Solution-focussed approaches while providing support and practical feedback. With compassion and understanding, he works with his clients to help them shift from their concerns to attain their goals.
Karl believes seeking clarity around our thinking can create a great foundation for dealing with work and personal issues. Karl`s approach is to give clients the confidential space and time to explore and clarify their concerns and then to help the client take the next steps toward a resolution. Karl has a special interest in men’s wellbeing and the challenges they face, such as personal growth, negative cultural pressures, separation / divorce, fatherhood, and masculinity. Karl comes from a building industry background.
Karl and his partner of 26 years enjoy the company of their 2 adult daughters. Family and work life balance is important to him. He enjoys racing his classic sidecar with his partner. Karl has a wide range of personal life experiences including years of international travel and living with different cultures and appreciates a good cuppa and a chat. He believes we are all on this journey together and is passionate about helping others achieve success in their lives.
